Unless you had a specific reason for visiting Hialeah this probably isn’t somewhere you would come for a holiday as the city doesn’t have a great many attractions itself. However, the proximity to Miami is what makes Hialeah an appealing destination; if you wanted to visit Miami but not stay right in the heart of the city, Hialeah is a good alternative choice.
Amelia Earhart Park Something Hialeah does not lack is parks. The city has several very good parks, each offering a variety of facilities such as the Amelia Earhart Park. In here you’ll find the Bill Graham Farm Village, a perfect place to visit if you’re in Hialeah with children. The Farm Village includes a petting zoo where you can get up close to farm animals. The rides on ponies are always very popular with the children too, while the old fashioned general store is a hit with adults too! Along with places to walk, playgrounds, picnic tables and barbecues, the Amelia Earhart Park also has mountain biking trails ranging from beginner to advanced level. Hialeah Park Race Track Hialeah was most famous for its historic racing track (for horse racing), though some horse racing has now been resumed in recent years there were no races held and the track and all its facilities stood empty. Now quarter horse races are on the calendar and there are also plans to re-open the park and track for other tourist facilities including slot machines and development of the surrounding area to include a hotel, casino, restaurants and more. Attractions Nearby to Hialeah If you want to use Hialeah as a base for exploring some more of Southern Florida there are many places you can visit. Miami itself is just a short car drive to the south east where you’ll find many shopping and entertainment facilities, culture, and more, and Miami Beach with its miles of soft sandy beaches is almost directly to the east of Hialeah. To the west of Hialeah lies Big Cypress National Preserve and to the southwest, the world famous Everglades National Park. South east of the city and of Miami is Biscayne National Park and beyond that the road to the Keys. |
