Raleigh
Raleigh is the capital city of North Carolina and was named after Sir Walter Raleigh, the famous Englishman. The attractive city features attractions such as the North Carolina State Capitol Building, museums including the North Carolina Museum of Art, plus NC Museum of History, and the NC Museum of Natural Sciences. Raleigh has a good many parks to enjoy too – the William B. Umstead State Park has a variety of recreational activities on offer including hiking, canoeing, fishing and more. Charlotte Charlotte is the largest of North Carolina’s cities and as such has many different attractions for visitors to enjoy. Museums include the Carolinas Aviation Museum, the Mint Museum of Art and the Levine Museum of the New South which is an interesting museum looking at the history of the USA’s south. For sports fans, Charlotte is a great city to visit. Here you can catch an American Football game with the home team, the Carolina Panthers. There’s also the Carolina Bobcats for basketball, the Knights for Baseball and the Checkers for ice hockey. Blue Ridge Parkway The Blue Ridge Parkway is a famous road which runs between Shenandoah National Park in Virginia, and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in North Carolina. It’s a very popular road for its scenery and history and has many places of interest to stop along the way, including historic cabins, parks, mountains, museums, waterfalls and more. Great Smoky Mountains National Park A combination of factors means that the Great Smoky Mountains National Park almost always ranks as the most visited national park in the United States. The park sits between North Carolina and Tennessee and is almost 95% forest. Touring around the park is popular, as is hiking. The scenery is the main feature, which includes waterfalls, overlooks and more. Crystal Coast North Carolina also has an extensive coastline on the Atlantic Ocean, and its coastal towns are popular during the summer. The Crystal Coast area is one particularly scenic stretch which incorporates a number of cities, plus the Cape Lookout National Seashore, Croatan National Forest and Hammocks Beach State Park. |
