The Tourist Attractions in Wisconsin:
Madison

The capital of Wisconsin is Madison. This is a relatively small city, but vibrant and attractive all the same. The State Capitol Building was modeled on the White House and was built in 1912 after the previous state capitol burnt down. Visitors can take tours of the building and during the summer months there is an observation deck open to visitors for great views.

From Wisconsin State Capitol runs State Street, the cultural centre of Madison. Restaurants, museums, shops, bars and more line this street. Other attractions in Madison include the Olbrich Botanical Gardens, the Governor’s Mansion, and Henry Vilas Zoo.

Milwaukee

The largest cist in Wisconsin is Milwaukee, and is situated on the shores of Lake Michigan. As the 22nd largest city in the States there is quite a lot to see here, including historic architecture, museums and more. Amongst these is the striking Milwaukee Art Museum, and in stark contrast is the St Josaphat Basilica, built by and for the Polish community of the city.

Visitors interested in beers will find Milwaukee is home to several breweries where you can take tours, and during the summer, boat tours of Milwaukee River, the harbour and Lake Michigan are popular.

Green Bay

Sports fans who know anything about American Football will know that Green Bay is the home to the hugely popular Green Bay Packers. This is only a small town, but the Packers are loved and admired, as is the famous Lambeau Field (their home stadium), where visitors can see the Green Bay Packer Hall of Fame.

Natural Wisconsin

There are several popular scenic destinations in Wisconsin. Apostle Islands National Lakeshore is on Lake Superior, and is a park which includes 12 miles (19km) of lakeshore as well as 21 islands. Door County is also popular, though this is based on a peninsula on Lake Michigan. This area features small, attractive villages, plus galleries, museums, natural beauty, lighthouses and state parks.

In Central Wisconsin is the Wisconsin Dells. Another popular state tourist destination, the Dells is best known for its large water parks and its rock formations, and is situated an hour north of the state capital, Madison. Known as the Waterpark Capital of the World, the Dells features America’s largest waterpark, Noah’s Ark, plus many high class resorts where golfing, fishing, skiing, and more are all popular.

Wisconsin generally has a humid continental climate, but being situated on two of the Great Lakes, the weather can be heavily influenced by these large expanses of water.

Summers are relatively hot and humid – in Madison the summertime high is in July, when the average high temperature is 28C (82F). January is really rather cold in comparison, with an average high of -4C (25F) and average low of -13C (9F). Snowfall in the winter is common.
